About the Early Career Researcher (ECR) Program
November 3-4, 2017
In conjunction with the Canadian Cancer Research Conference (CCRC), the Canadian Institutes of Health Research – Institute of Cancer Research (CIHR-ICR), Canadian Cancer Society (CCS), and Ontario Institute for Cancer Research (OICR) are pleased to support the Early Career Researcher Program.
This program has been developed for newly established principal investigators / new faculty members (within their first 5 years of academic appointment) at Canadian universities, including new scientists and clinician scientists and senior postdocs (within 6 months of completing their training). The purpose of this program is to strengthen the professional development of junior faculty from the cancer research community. The meeting will run Friday evening and all day Saturday.
Eligibility and Awards
Awardees will be selected based on abstract submission with priority given to individuals that have not participated in previous New PI meetings. Based on resource allocation we anticipate supporting up to 60 attendees. Registration to the CCRC will be a requirement and awardees will be expected to attend the entire CCRC meeting (November 5-7, 2017).
All New PI participants must submit an abstract to be eligible for the Early Career Researcher program. You may submit an abstract without registering for the conference.
Abstract submission for oral and poster presentations is now closed.
Registration for the Canadian Cancer Research Conference opens April 3, 2017.
Registration for the Early Career Researcher (ECR) meeting is done through the general registration for the CCRC. Individuals will “self-identify” as new PIs or senior postdocs (postdocs will require a letter of support which must be uploaded with their abstract) upon registration. Awardees will be notified if they are awarded an ECR award by late summer.
